1. Training Objectives

1.1. General Objective

            The Master’s program in Finance and Banking aims to provide a research- and application-oriented education in the fields of finance and banking. Upon graduation, learners are expected to possess critical thinking, creativity, and a service-oriented mindset, along with the knowledge and skills to perform high-level professional tasks in finance and banking, achieving high quality and efficiency in the context of sustainable economic development and international integration.

1.2. Specific Objectives

Graduates are expected to have knowledge, skills, autonomy, and responsibility as follows:

1.2.1. Knowledge

Acquire in-depth, modern knowledge in finance and banking to conduct analysis and evaluation, manage operations, and make decisions related to the field.

1.2.2. Skills

Develop critical thinking, creativity, and awareness for research and professional orientation in finance and banking. Possess teamwork, analytical, research, and management skills to solve finance- and banking-related problems in an international integration context. Ability to propose important initiatives, adapt, self-direct, and guide others.  Ability to draw expert-level conclusions in finance and banking. Capability to manage and improve professional finance and banking activities.

6. Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification and meet the admission requirements or entrance examination criteria of the University.

Graduates with a relevant or appropriate major may apply directly after graduation.

Graduates from related fields are required to complete prerequisite (bridging) courses before applying, according to the prescribed list of supplementary subjects.

Graduation recognition: In accordance with the Postgraduate Training Regulations (issued with Decision No. 1279/QĐ-DCT dated April 26, 2024, by the Rector of University of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City).

Foreign language requirement: In accordance with the Foreign Language Output Standards (issued with Decision No. 1281/QĐ-DCT dated April 26, 2024).

Information technology requirement: In accordance with the IT competency standards (issued with Decision No. 3297/QĐ-DCT dated November 7, 2023).

9. Career Opportunities after Graduation

Graduates may hold positions such as Head of Transaction Office, Branch Director, Director of credit institutions, or Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in enterprises.

Graduates in Finance and Banking may also work as managers in credit institutions, commercial banks, tax authorities, and other financial organizations.

10. Opportunities for Further Study

 

After graduation, learners may pursue doctoral studies to obtain a PhD in Finance and Banking, Accounting, or Business Administration.

11. Admission Method:

Admission is based on the following criteria:

·       Applicants belonging to priority groups as stipulated by the university.

·       Priority is given to applicants with higher cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) at the undergraduate level, ranked from highest to lowest until the quota is filled.

·       In cases where the number of applicants with equal GPA exceeds the admission quota, priority will be given based on work experience relevant to the field of study (verified by labor contracts, social insurance contribution records, or employer certification). Applicants with longer work experience will be admitted first.

 

·       In cases where applicants have equal work experience, priority will be given to female applicants in accordance with Clause 4, Article 16 of Decree No. 48/2009/ND-CP dated May 19, 2009, on measures to ensure gender equality.
